Just when I was worried that the fabulous evenings were over (I had started a pattern of working late every night!), I have a night that reminds me that I am way too young to be reading the newspaper and working the crossword puzzle every night alone in bed at 10pm! Tonight, we turned an ordinary night into an amazing night. We had been planning on driving around to look at Christmas lights for a while, but then got an invitation to view them in my cousins' private limo with their personal driver. Here we are at my condo awaiting their arrival:

We drove through downtown, along Swiss Avenue, and made our way though Highland Park, all the while enjoying wine/cocktails and fun conversation. For being a few years older than us, my cousins are quite cool and definitely know how to have a fun evening out! It was a gorgeous night to be out looking at lights as evidenced be the many families walking through the neighborhood. However, I was much more comfortable riding with my glass of Merlot. We came across one house where everyone was taking pictures so of course we couldn't pass up a photo opportunity with some reindeer and The Grinch!

As you might have learned by now, the evening is never complete without a visit to Sunset Lounge Restaurant to see the gang. Ashton joined us there as well. Johnny, the coolest bartender/bar manager at any establishment in Dallas, mixed some powerful concoctions and joined our group for a while.

One of the things I find the most interesting about Ms. Fabulous is that despite growing up under different circumstances, we have many shared experiences. We were both erudite kids, though I never really knew who I was trying to impress in the non-intellectual, non-cultured Bryan, Texas where I grew up. (I discovered last night that we were both into Woody Allen movies by about the 5th grade!) Anyway, when I make pop cultural references to most people my age, they just look at me and can't figure out what I am referring to. However, Ms. Fabulous knows all of my cultural references and I love her for that! As it turns out, one of our favorite TV shows growing up was Kids in the Hall. So, for those of you who watched it.....we are squishing your head!

I somehow talked the DJ into letting me spin a few songs thoughout the evening (not really, but the pictures look good!). Actually, I used to have aspirations of being a DJ when I grew up though I ended up as a physician.

The evening ended up being much later than we had anticipated. All I have to say is thank goodness for my spare bedroom!
