It's been about 2 weeks since I have updated the blog. This has been partly because of last weekend's flood which kept me at home in bed catching up on the series 24 on DVD instead of doing anything remotely blog worthy. But, have no fear because....I am back! Ms. Fabulous, The New Yorker and I decided to meet up at Il Mulino for dinner and wine. Both of these girls have had a commendable work ethic these past few weeks (unlike me sitting around watching hour after hour of 24), so our time together is now precious. We partook in a lovely dinner, had multiple glasses of wine, and caught up on the gossip of the last few weeks.

The evening then took us to Martini Ranch, an old medical school haunt that I hadn't been back to in at least 3 years. We met up with Lerxst, who had just arrived from Phoenix and who happened to be my house guest for the remainder of the week/weekend. It had been a while since I had seen Lerxst, but very little has changed. He's still charming, the consummate gentleman, and quite the enigma when it comes to certain topics. Robin Leech and some other friends showed up as well. The guys started complaining how the martinis on the menu were "girlie" and made fun of us for drinking chocolate martinis and key lime martinis, but by the end of the evening, everyone at the table had switched over to martinis! All I have to say is that Ms. Fabulous and I know good stuff! Here are some pics from Martini Ranch:

Leave it to Ms. Fabulous to then want to go to the "hotspot" on Wednesday nights....Spike in Mockingbird Station. I warned her that the crowd would be rather young, but she had heard this was the place to be. So, we drove all the way there, made our way to the front of the obnoxious line at the door to receive armbands (how old are the people in there???), and then proceeded to find a table at the bar. It takes Ms. Fabulous all of about 2 minutes to decide that this wasn't exactly the scene she was wanting for the evening and that she would rather be at Sunset Lounge instead. However, the waitress had already made her way to our table to take our order. Here is the conversation between Lerxst (who is indeed inebriated by this point) and the waitress:
Waitress: Can I get you guys something to drink?
Lerxst: No, I don't think we want anything.
Waitress: Is everything ok?
Lerxst: We just feel scared here!
Waitress: It isn't supposed to be scary. What can I do to make it less scary for you?
Lerxst: I think we are just going to leave.
Waitress: Ok, but let me know if there is anything I can do.
I just about fell over laughing when Lerxst said we were scared! And to top it off, the poor waitress actually believed him. Anyway, we bailed and went to Sunset Lounge, our usual final destination.
