Roger Hayes' Birthday Beer Bash (aka "Techno Swim" Party)

June 6th is a day I can't forget. It was on this day back in 1970 that the world was blessed with the birth of Roger Hayes. What he has accomplished in his short time on earth is beyond description - what other man gives single strippers rides home from the strip bars when they close just because he is a nice guy? what other guy has VIP passes at every bar in Dallas where he orders his usual rum and Coke? what other guy can successfully do home "unimprovement" on a gorgeous house? what other guy is friends with all of his exes and invites them all to his parties (at one Christmas party I think I was one of 5 former girlfriends there!) what other guy has so many empty beer can/bottles at his house that his maid has to call me to find out what is going on with Roger and why all the parties???

So, it was only apropos that we have a beer tasting with beers from around the world to celebrate his birthday. Roger flew into to Dallas at 11:30 am and left at 6:30am the next morning (why does Roger all pick screwy flights???). The destination was the usual pool where Roger's last 2 birthday parties have been and also the pool that is famous for Techno Swim parties. As to what exactly is Techno Swim....well, it involves a lot of alcohol, techno music on the iPod, and everybody getting WET!

We tasted beers from around the world, with the guys liking the darker beers and the women going for the more fruity beers. The menu for the tasting is included below for your perusal. There were at least 14 beers in all, with backup bottles of the ones we liked the best. We swam, we toasted to the 36 years of Roger Hayes, and we enjoyed the techno tunes on the stereo.

Happy Birthday, Roger Hayes!
