Ballet Rock!

About a month ago, I received a phone call from Mrs. Bad Relationship Karma wanting to know if I was on call Oct. 12. She was arranging for a group to attend the Contemporary Ballet Dallas season opener Ballet Rock! I, of course, said I was in and promptly forgot about the event until the day of when I received the phone call telling me where and when to meet. Thank goodness the social calendar is light these days as I scrambled to inform Robin Leach of my planned commitment for us this evening.

Ms. Fabulous, Tootsie, and friends picked me up and we were off to the Eisemann Center in Richardson to meet Robin Leech and others. We entered the packing garage to find that parking was $4 despite the numerous free places on the street we passed up. When the parking attendant acted like she couldn't make change for our $20, she rudely stuck her head in the car and pointed to our friend in the back seat who happened to pull out a $5 bill. She looked at us and said, "She has change!" So, we gave her the $5 bill to calm her down. We parked and made our way up to the entrance only to be rudely summoned by the security guard. Apparently, the parking attendant proclaimed we hadn't paid, despite her almost grabbing the $5 bill from our hands. After a few minutes of explanation, he let us go. Can you imagine that....4 physicians being accused of robbing the parking attendant!

We met up with Mr. and Mrs. Bad Karma inside. I had actually never been to this venue, which is quite a little jewel nestled in between the Nortel campus. We made our way to our seats, only to find we were sitting in front of another couple from the hospital. What a small little world we live in!

The ballet was great, filled with interpretive dances set to modern tracks accompanied by a rock musician narrating on guitar. The artists included Bush, Metallica, The Killers, U2, Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, and Led Zepplin among others....some of my favorite artists! The stories were filled with love and rejection, a roller coaster of emotions as each character danced. I was worried about Robin's reaction to this event, given that his ballet experience is limited. But, he seemed to get into it.

Thanks to Mrs. Bad Relationship Karma for planning such a good event!
