Happy Birthday, Lerxst!

My plans were simple this evening - order Chinese food, build a fire, curl up on the sofa and watch a movie. Instead, I get a phone call from Lerxst saying he is at the old Metro (the bar where Roger Hayes could be found if not answering his cell phone) and that he was on his way to The Balcony Club. I scrapped the above plans and told him to pick me up and lets go celebrate his birthday. As I waited in front of my condo, Robin drove up and wondered what the heck I was doing outside. Yet again, he "busted" me as I waited for another man to pick me up!!!

Robin, Lerxst and I headed over to the Balcony Club to enjoy some jazz and martinis. For those of you who don't know, The Balcony Club is an atypical Dallas bar. It's located above the Lakewood Theater next door to Matt's Rancho Martinez. Roger Hayes first brought me here years ago and it has remained a favorite ever since. While he liked the place because it provided good people watching and it was open Christmas Eve so he could drink the night away; I liked it because it's not the pretty people scene. Besides, they make a mean White Chocolate martini.

Leave it to Lerxst to always provide interesting conversation for the evening - ranging from MBA programs and how he can't date women over 30, to how he is going to manage to get us all on the VIP guest list for Willie Nelson's upcoming Austin concert. Ms. Fabulous, dressed in gym attire, came to join us as well. I won't reveal how old Lerxst is, but I will say that he looks much younger than his age. I guess running 11 miles a day will do that for you! We then all ventured over to Matt's for some late night Mexican food.

Yes, the reason why I loved the Balcony Club is because I can drink away Christmas Eve alone. Good Lord, you paint such a great picture. I loved it because it was great people watching. And it was open on holidays. So there!

Ms. Fabulous looks like a hostage in that picture with Lerxst!
