Sunday Night Spamalot!

My life has been rather uneventful these last few weeks. I mean, the weather here in Dallas has been crappy, lessening my chances of venturing out and having fun. And, while I normally would have attend an awesome Fourth of July party, it started to rain right when Robin and I were walking out the door. So, we have been watching a lot of movies at home and having "chill time" (as Ms. Kung-Fu calls is). I suppose subconsciously I am saving up energy to go to New Orleans soon for what I am sure is to be one hell-of-a-good time girl's weekend!

But, we did venture out last night to Fair Park for Monty Python's Spamalot since I love Broadway Musicals. Note: Don't ask me to name my favorite because Robin and I played that game last night and it was a tough decision. Now, for those of you that don't know me well, I am not a big Monty Python fan. I have seen The Holy Grail and Life of Brian (though I fell asleep in the latter). That is just not my favorite genre, ranking down the list with Sci-Fi and fantasy. Robin, on the other hand, has seen them all and can not only quote the movies but sing the songs as well. I just figured this last part out during the actual performance when he was singing right along with the cast.

However, I was pleasantly surprised. I mean it did win the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical so how bad could it be? So, we had great tickets (12th row) which is a must at the Musical Hall at Fair Park due to the horrible acoustics. It was pure silliness, from the story and the song lyrics, to the part about "Lancelot is gay" - I laughed and I laughed throughout the show. The music was quirky and memorable. As we walked to our car, we were both humming "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"! Last night was the last performance in Dallas. But, if you get a chance to see it, it comes highly recommended by Dr. Trouble.
