Happy 35th Birthday Robin!

Yesterday was Robin's birthday and yet again I found myself celebrating with an old man! I mean, at age 35 you are officially closer to 40 than you are to 30. After a delectable feast at Bob's Steak and Chop House, we celebrated with wine and with gifts that represented a nautical theme (bottle of port, stuff for the boat, etc). I believe I pulled of a great birthday. However, there was one SNAFU on the evening. I decided to order Robin a mini-birthday cake that went along with the nautical theme. The lady at the bakery drew a picture of a sailboat and said the cake would be ready on 1/3. Keep in mind I ordered it 4 days ago. Anyway, when I went to pick the cake up, there was no record of my order. The guy at the bakery apologized and said that I could pick out the cake of my choice for free. The only catch....he would decorate it and he wasn't a cake decorator! As I am thinking, "How hard is it to draw a sailboat?", he gets out his cake decorating set and proves that it obviously takes some skill. The end result was something that looked like a toddler drew it! The cake guy and I shared some laughs and I decided, "What the hell? It is the thought that counts, right?" I took the cake home to Robin and of course he had a laugh. He took a picture of the cake and so did I!
