Are We Art Snobs?

It was time for a change of pace. Instead of our usual evenings of debauchery, we decided to be more sophisticated tonight. Our first stop was a private viewing of the new exhibit Dialogues: Duchamp, Cornell, Johns, Rauschenberg at the Dallas Museum of Art. The crowd was eclectic, and Ms. Fabulous and I struck up an acquaintance with an elderly couple who had traveled the world and lived on most every continent. She was most impressed by our prestigious educations and our patronage of the arts. We didn't dare confess that our knowledge of the featured artists was limited, and that we were merely there to scope out single men and pretend to be art snobs! A prime example of this came when Ms. Fabulous and I entered one of the large galleries, with pieces displayed on 3 of the walls and a large reflective mirror at the far end. Ms. Fabulous and I both walked towards the reflective glass, admiring the most beautiful art in the room.....us! We laughed at the fact that we had BOTH done that and didn't even realize we were.

The next stop of the evening was over to Ptex's loft for a surprise birthday. The guys were most impressed with our evening at the museum, and we found out exactly how famous the artists were in the art community. Ms. Fabulous was reunited with her gay-boyfriend (see Friends + Fuse = Fabulous Evening!) from the past and we also met a few more fabulous women to join our group for upcoming happy hours. Overall, it was a very tame night (which I needed because I was overcome this week by a horrible cold/allergy/sinus infection) and we were both home well before the strike of midnight.
