The Hanging of the Greens

It was a hectic weekend, but somehow I managed to survive. It began with Roger Hayes coming to stay with me from Atlanta to work on remedying his "home unimprovement" problem which had been slowly been occurring for the past 6 years. Home unimprovement means living in a house and instead of doing the usual fix-it-up types of things, doing just the opposite! You have to love Roger Hayes.

Then came the "hanging of the greens" at my condo as I decorated for Christmas and the upcoming Martini Mingle. My friends are impressed I actually decorated, as the domestic part of me rarely comes out. After a visit to the tree farm and the purchase of a tree that looks quite a bit larger in my condo than on the lot, we were all set. Ms. Fabulous was upset that Santa Claus doesn't visit Indians, so we hung a stocking in her honor on my mantle in case he makes his way down my chimney! I sure hope we've been nice this year! The pictures of the tree on the blog do it no justice as it is quite beautiful in real life.

We then headed over to the Sunset Lounge for a cocktail. The place was packed! We could barely get to the bar to see our favorite bartenders and thus, decided to move our soiree over to the Elbow Room where we could sit and talk. It had been a while since I had been to Elbow Room, but the memories of all the crazy events that occurred there (first dates, fights with Roger Hayes, several New Year's Eves) are still ever-present. Roger and Ms. Fabulous were rather contemplative during the evening, but still managed to have a good time. The Kid also joined us and the four of us shut the place down.

Sunday was spent shopping for the Marvelous Martini Mingle. We planned the drink menu with the bartenders, organized the food, and bought some fabulous decorations. It's definitely going to be a lot of fun! If you haven't RSVP'ed, please do so because we are trying to figure out how much liquor/food to have.
