New Year's Eve 2006

It's been an interesting year, filled with unexpected turns and disappointments, so it would only be appropriate that tonight would be the same! We had been building up New Year's Eve for the past couple of weeks and sure enough the night was not we had expected.....AT ALL!

The night started out great though. I met up with The Kid (from now on, he will be referred to as The Chin). We picked up Ms. Fabulous and The New Yorker and set out for a party at this guy's condo that The New Yorker knows. As you can tell, we were all excited and ready to party! We even had our own designated driver for the evening so nothing was stopping us.

The first party was great! We all ran into people we knew (The Chin met some ladies), enjoyed great drinks and hor'dourves, and regrettably bailed on this party way too soon.

The next stop of the evening was a party in the Presidential Suite at the Adam's Mark Hotel. Apparently, MTV was also having an event in the ballrooms so our plan was to see how the party in the suite was and if it was less then satisfactory then go to the MTV blast! When we entered the lobby of the hotel, we were met by literally hundreds of teenagers in line for the MTV event. Sometimes we forget that the MTV target audience is kids between the ages of about 16-22 and not us around 30 crowd, though we are all fans of Laguna Beach, Real World, My Super Sweet 16, and Punk'd. Go figure! It took us a while to find the party upstairs because we were unaware that there were two towers at the hotel. Here are some pics of us confused in the hallway:

The party at the suite was an....uhmmm....eclectic event, with the average age there being less than that at the MTV event downstairs. Seriously, we kept meeting people that were 16! The idea was good, getting a huge suite and inviting all of your friends, but letting a bunch of 16 year olds in....not so much! I thought it would be funny to tell these kids that one of the members of our group was a TABC agent. Anyway, we had our champagne toast and bailed at approximately 12:02am!

One of the highlights of the evening was when we were making our way down McKinney Ave. and passed a BMW with a blonde woman hanging out of the window flashing everybody and everything in sight. (Click on the image if you really want to see!). I was there with the spycam documenting her drunken activites to sell to the producers of Girls Gone Wild.

We ended up back at the first party where we partook in more food. But, we didn't stay for too long. The Chin, already having met a potential woman for the evening, was less than enthused. And besides, I had some important text messages to return (what's up with that?).

Despite the disappointments of the evening, I still managed to have a good time. It's all about the company you keep and not necessarily where you go. The 5 of us would have had a great time anywhere. Happy New Year everybody!
