Congratulations to Us!

As I count down my last few days of residency, I can't help but think back on these last three years. Here we were, thrown together from various pasts, medical schools, and cities and knowing that the next three years we would all get to know each other VERY WELL! We suffered through countless nights at the hospital together, taking care of some of the sickest patients in Dallas. We all started out bright-eyed and optimistic and not having a clue as to what we were doing, only to become slightly hardened and adept in our skills in our later years. We have seen each other through new relationships, marriages, break-ups, births, and deaths. We have at times partied a little too hard while others needed to celebrate a little harder. We have supported each other through presentations, journal clubs, the "Match", and doing those first procedures on our own (intravenous catheters, spinal taps, etc). Some of us have 3 additional years ahead of us as we pursue our various subspecialities (cardiology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, rheumatology) while others of us are starting our practice and making the big $$$ (damn them!). But, no matter where our paths lead, may we all have continued success. Here's to the class of 2006!
