Taking a Break at Vickery Park

It is officially two weeks before I take my medicine board exam and thus I have officially started the cramming process. Never mind that I have had 3 years to study for this test - I always leave tests like this until the last two weeks. So, I will probably disappear for a while, except for the Dave Matthews concert next weekend which will surely entail an evening of wildness. Nevertheless, I needed a break from the studying and thus called up Ptex to go out since Robin Leach was out of town.

Ptex, having just returned from Miami where he had gone to the Madonna concert (that bastard!) and currently packing for a trip to NYC to continue his jet-setting lifestyle, wanted a chill night out. So, the two of us decided to try out Vickery Park, the new tavern that opened on Henderson near Cuba Libre. The New Yorker had told me that it was "chill" and a good place to sit back and share the happenings of our life. Our conversation always goes back to the Albster, the common bond Ptex and I share, and our current impossible relationships (usually involving men entirely tot old in my case and men entirely too young in his case). However, as of tonight, I must say that I might be with a guy now that is the appropriate age.

Vickery Park was exactly as described - the lighting dim, the mood "chill", and a comfy booth in the corner for us to sit and commiserate over our past loves and heartbreaks. The menu was above that which was expected, including Buffalo-style calamari which we enjoyed as an appetizer and quite delectable chicken sandwiches. Most importantly, they had Hoegaarden on draft. I always rate a bar/pub based on their availability of wheat bears on draft.

If you are in the neighborhood, check out Vickery Park as it gets my recommendation.
