Fuse + Friends = Fabulous Evening!

It's Saturday night in Dallas and I was sitting at home with nothing to do when I remembered some advice a friend told me - instead of sitting at home alone drowning in sorrow for your failed relationships, get out there and be fabulous! I called Ms. Fabulous and told her that I needed to surround myself with wonderful people to erase those dreadful images of Karate Man. We decided to meet for dinner then go to a party and hopefully meet some gay boyfriends. Why "gay" boyfriends? Because we all know gay guys are a girl's best friend (after diamonds, or course). Who needs straight ones when all they do is break your heart, right?

So there you have it. Ms. Fabulous and I set out on an evening of adventure and hopefully along the way meet two fabulous gay boyfriends! Our first stop of the evening was Fuse, a trendy new Asian/Tex-Mex fusion restaurant on Commerce Street in the ultra-cool DP&L building that has quickly become the Dallas "scene". And guess what, we had no idea it was so trendy (I love stumbling upon hot hip places like that!). When we realized that we were unable to get a table on this obviously very crowded evening, we proceeded to this next best thing.....a table at the bar. That's where we met Lauren, our fabulous bartender on this fabulous evening. She introduced us to the White Grape Martini, a deadly combination of white grape juice and Ciroc vodka garnished with grapes. Well, at least that is what I remember about it after 4 of them. We partook in some California rolls, Asian salads, and potstickers. The food was excellent and we decided we would try lunch there in the upcoming week. We also walked around the patio, which is probably the coolest patio in Dallas at the moment. And if that isn't enough, the pool for DP&L is on the patio! Ptex just moved into a loft in the building, so like it or not, I'll be spending some free moments there! Ms. Fabulous and her fabulous self was hit on by the prototypical man that always hits on her - way too young, blonde, but good-looking. (If you ever see Ms. Fabulous out and you are about 35 with dark hair.....then you will definitely land her number!) We also ran into Mr. Puniverse, a colleague whom I adore, and company. Of course, we had a fabulous seat at the very busy bar while all these other stragglers were left standing!

The next stop of the evening.....Benji's Big Bang. This is a semi-annual event that attracts Dallas' hottest gay men and the gorgeous women (that would be us!) that know them. And where better to forget about Karate Man and to find a fabulous gay boyfriend then a party full of successful, stylish, young studs! The doorman immediately knew we were there for the Big Bang (what a compliment to us!) and had the elevator waiting.

Let me set the stage for the party and the host.....Benji is fabulous. He's an intellectual, art lover and critic, and the consummate host for a delightful evening. He lives in a unbelievable loft in downtown, which in and of itself could be an art gallery. I sure do know some cool people.

We hooked up with Ptex and company as well as some other fabulous boys. I will spare you the dirty details, but rest assured mission was accomplished and we found our fabulous gay boyfriends. Ms. Fabulous made the rounds, playing matchmaker to all the the boys and finding multiple boyfriends. She even somehow managed to spark some jealousy between some of her boyfriends (which I am still trying to figure out given that ALL the guys were gay!) Here is a smattering of pics from the evening.

The next stop......back to Fuse. It was deja vu as we somehow managed to be back at the very place where we started. There was a crowd to get in by this time (approx 1:30 am) but we managed to get in via DP&L's secret back entrance. We made our way back to the patio, which by now was so unbelievably crowded that I would swear every single beautiful person in Dallas had somehow managed to find their way to this patio. We ordered more white grape martinis (I have lost count by now!) and somehow left with our drinks to take a tour of the building as well as Ptex's new loft. Ms. Fabulous and I basically invited ourselves over for a dinner party on the patio (don't worry Ptex, we'll bring the food).

By this time, it was about 2:30 am and Ms. Fabulous decided we should probably make our way to Cafe Brazil for a little late night snack. At about 3:30 am, after consuming not just a snack but an entire meal, I made my way home. A fun, fabulous evening surrounded by wonderful friends......I would call that a perfect evening!

It's now the next day, and as I recount my adventures, I realize that it is almost 3:00 pm and I have done absolutely nothing productive today. Thus, after this post, I must hit the books and do some studying. Leading a fabulous comes at a high price and thus I must study so that someday I can pay for all of these adventures!
