I always say on my blog how fabulous my friends and I are. Well, tonight we proved it! You see, there is a new bar that opened literally right next door to my condo called Sunset Lounge. I have been watching the owners redo the building for the past month and have been awaiting the opening. Ashton and I decided to check out the new neighborhood hotspot tonight. And, lo and behold, tonight was the opening night and we were the first patrons. Yes, we were the VERY FIRST customers that walked in the door. We even had our picture taken by the owners for being number one.
The place is definitely different from Passport, the old bar the inhabited the same location. The decor is very lounge-like, comfortable with muted orange lighting. The patio is a new feature, and will definitely come in handy when I decide to pull out one of my cigars!
The crowd was light at first, but this enabled us to meet the owners and many of the staff. Behind the bar was none other than J.D., a former bartender at Zubar back in the day when I frequented Greenville Ave. establishments (I think he gave me my first VIP card!). We were able to sample some of the items on the menu including various pizzas and bruchetta as the kitchen kept sending them our way. The menu was simple, but I must say that each entree was quite delectable.
Ms. Fabulous decided to stop by on here way home from the gym (actually, she was forced but that is a different story!). Despite her gym attire, she was allowed in because the owners could see how fabulous she truly was. Around 9:30pm, the crowd picked up and the place was transformed into quite the Dallas scene. The usual uptown crowd ventured east of Central to Ross Ave.!
Sunset Lounge is destined to be the next hotspot in downtown Dallas, and of course, destined to be my new hangout. If you want a chill place to enjoy a drink and some great music, then check it out. And, say hi to me when you are there!
